Facelift version of Chevrolet Sonic 2017, another strong contender at the New York International Auto Show 2016
Chevrolet, the American auto major which has a presence in over 140 countries across the globe, is all set to debut a facelift version of its successful hatchback, the Chevrolet Sonic, at the New York International Auto Show 2016, which is open to public from 25th March onwards.
Chevrolet Sonic has received a refreshingly expressive face-lift as part of its new design language that is already seen on the Cruze, Bolt EV and 2017 Trax. At first look, the car looks very appealing, owing to its new front fascia, sporting a new front grille with the Chevy badging, and honey-combed air dam. It has also received new projector head lamps with LED DRLs, and front fog lamps. The rear too is reworked with a new LED tail unit and a rear spoiler, giving it a sporty look. Consumers also have an option to choose from 15/16/17-inch alloy wheels with striking design, thereby increasing the car's appeal.
The terms comfort, convenience and technology sum up the Sonic's interiors. Starting from the new instrument cluster, to the new heated cloth seats and steering wheel, Chevrolet is focused to provide the consumers with increased refinement. It has also incorporated a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility. Apart from these, another tech-savvy feature to talk about is the 4G LTE support with WiFi hotspot, that allows the car's inhabitants to connect upto seven compatible devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets to the internet.
Sonic is packed with 10 airbags as a standard, along with ABS with Stabilitrack ESP that provides top notch safety to the passengers. Forward collision alert and lane departure warning are other safety features that are dedicated to alert drivers to potential crash situations.
Rear view camera is now provided as a standard across all models. With the 2017 Sonic, rear park assist also makes an appearance, improving the overall safety and bettering the convenience of the consumers.
The 2017 Chevy Sonic would be available with its standard Ecotec 1.8-liter , 4-cylinder engine that returns 102 kW (138 hp). It would also be offered with an optional 1.4-litee Ecotec turbo engine that returns 113 kW (153 hp) in the RS model. Both the engine versions would be coupled with a 6-speed manual/automatic gearbox.
Overall, the design update is welcoming as the Sonic looks sporty and stylish. The enhanced interiors, intelligent features and improved safety make the Sonic a handsome buy!
