Tata Hexa, the much awaited SUV from the stables of Tata Motors, was caught testing on Indian soil on the Trichy Highway in Coimbatore. Though the SUV was camouflaged, the bold design, the uncovered projector headlamps and alloy wheels make it reminiscent of the Hexa, thus confirming our suspicion.
Initially showcased to the world as a concept during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and later unveiled with its production specification at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Tata Hexa is hailed as a Lifestyle SUV with an exceptional combination of design and luxury. It offers both off-road and on-road capabilities.
Highlights of the Tata Hexa:
- Dimensions: 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height; long wheelbase of 2,850 mm
- Dual colored front bumper with signature Tata grille and chrome accented humanity line with 3D 'T' Logo
- Smoked projector headlamps and distinctive fog lamps with DRLs
- Two part tail lamps with wraparound signature LED lamps, body colored spoiler and roof rails to give the Hexa a masculine stance
- Starfish shaped 19-inch alloy wheels
- Dual tone interiors with mood lighting to provide ambient car illumination based on the 4 drive modes.
- Luxurious leather seats and accentuated bolsters to ensure a comfortable and snug-fit for the passengers
- Powerful 2.2-liter VARICOR 400 diesel engine that delivers max power of 156 PS at 4,000 RPM and max torque of 400 NM @ 1,700-2,700 RPM
- Next gen 6-speed manual/automatic transmission
- Four drive modes: Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road
- Safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, Traction Control System
- TFT touchscreen infotainment system designed by Harman, connected to a 10 speaker system with sub woofer and amplifier by JBL.
- Supports USB, iPod, SD card, Aux and Bluetooth audio
- Rear view Camera Display with Park Assist.
Design is brilliant, features are plenty and quality is top-notch. But, how much more time till it is delivered to the Indian consumers? Can it prove itself as a Lifestyle SUV?
We answer just that.
We expect the SUV to be launched by the end of second quarter of 2016, at a price bracket of 15-18 lacs INR. Stay tuned to MotorFry for more updates.
