Volkswagen has introduced their latest and largest vehicle for the American market, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. It is a seven-seater family SUV built in Tennessee.
The car is based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture. It follows the latest design style from Volkswagen. It is 198.3 inches long, 77.9 inches wide, and 69.6 inches high. The standard LED headlights and DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) give the vehicle a typical Volkswagen look from the front. The LED taillights are optional.
On the interiors, a simple, driver-centric screen is placed. Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system lets the driver configure the display to their liking. The second-row seat can be folded to gain access to the third-row.
As far as infotainment is concerned, Volkswagen Atlas features a Fender Premium Audio System with a 480-Watt amplifier along with a dozen channels and speakers. The Volkswagen Car-Net system makes sure the vehicle is connected via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or MirrorLink.
Various driver assistance features are included in the Atlas, including automatic post-collision braking, blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, parking steering assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning.
There are two powertrain variants - a 2.0-litre turbocharged and direct-injection TSI four-cylinder engine front-wheel drive with 238 hp (175 kW), or a 3.6-litre VR6 engine al-wheel drive with 280 hp (210 kW). The power is routed through an eight-speed transmission in either case.
Volkswagen Atlas 2018 is built at the Chattanooga assembly plant. It will be launched in the spring next year.
