Ever since the GT4 competitive racing has gained more-and-more ground, various cars have jumped the gun to excel in the motorsport. The latest to do is the Mercedes-AMG GT4, which is a transformed AMG GT R.
The major tweaks are in the field of safety. The AMG GT4 comes with a high-strength steel roll cage. A carbon safety cell encloses the carbon driver seat, which is itself HANS (Head and Neck Support) compatible. The roof comes with a hatch which can be used to extract the driver if need be. There is also an inbuilt fire extinguisher system.
The twin-turbo V8 engine produces 503 hp (375 kW) power and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) torque. The six-speed sequential gearbox is pneumatically-operated.
On the exterior, changes are made to improve aerodynamics. The front bumper of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 has a broader and low air intake. The bonnet comes with a new scoop. At the rear, the GT R wing is bigger. The diffuser is large and edgy.
The suspension mechanism used is unique. Adjustable dampers (for compression and rebound) are paired with the double-wishbone setup. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) assistance is also flexible. The traction control system offers 11 different levels of assistance - a boon for new drivers.
All the user-friendliness makes the Mercedes-AMG GT4 expensive. It is priced at €198,850 ($231,500 approx.).
