Yes, you read it right. You could soon ride out a swanky new Nissan X-trail from a dealership near you. Nissan plans to roll out its latest offering: Nissan X-trail this Diwali. Its sleeker, meaner and packed with loads of features that is sure to grab a lot of eyeballs.

Rolling back  a few years, 2004 to be exact, Nissan had ventured into the Indian Car market with the X-trail, but had to withdraw the model last year due to low demand. One of the many reasons for its decline was the huge box like design which it lets go with the new model. Though the current model debuted a couple of years back in the 2013 Frankfurt Auto show, it looks more refreshing, more sleeker and has more sharper edges compared to it predecessor thus giving it a modern SUV look.

The Japanese car maker has engineered this vehicle to suit both city and off-road conditions. The Indian consumer can chose from 2WD or 4WD variant. Also, it  would be  likely powered by 2.0 litre dCi engine that would churn out 142 bhp @6600 rpm. The max torque would be 200 Nm @4400 rpm.

With the X-trail, the interiors are raised to a new high with black Leather accented seats and steering wheel, generous chrome linings, smart- infotainment system with satellite navigation, power tilt and slide sunroof to name a few. It also introduces a feature called Active Ride Control, which automatically adjusts the suspension according to the road ahead.

Where Nissan could have done better is the pricing! Since this model is to be imported as a CBU, it attracts a bigger price tag around 32- 35 lac ( ex-showroom ). Having said this, the Nissan X-trail has a lot of positives, is sure to give the rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe a run for their money. Only time will tell!
