Honda CB Hornet 160R replaces the failed CB Trigger

Yamaha introduced the first model of FZ in the year 2008 bringing the naked bike concept to the Indian shores. This was followed by the launch of Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS (Naked Sports) in the year 2012. Not to be left behind, Suzuki launched the Gixxer in the year 2014, infusing a fresh competition in this category. Finally, Honda has launched the CB Hornet 160R, marking its entry into the Street Naked Sports Biking in India.

Launched at an introductory price of INR 79,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for Single Disc and INR 84,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for Dual Disc with CBS, this 2 wheeler can be owned by you at the nearest Honda Dealership by paying a booking amount INR 5000.

It is powered by 162.7 cc HET Engine, churning up a Power of 15.66 BHP @ 8500 RPM and

The CB Hornet is packed with a number of exciting features:
  • AGGRO Headlamp
  • Muscular Tank
  • Fully Digital Meter with orange back-light
  • X-shaped LED tail light
  • 5-Spoke split Alloy wheels
  • 140 mm wide rear Tyre
Honda have always looked to provide bikes that are safe to ride. Keeping that trend going,
the CB Hornet 160R is equipped with Combi Brake System (CBS) , that reduces braking distance and maintains stability. But one feels,  Honda could have bettered this by providing another variant with ABS to provide optimum safety and also keep in line with the regulations that make ABS and CBS mandatory from April 2017.

Another area where Honda needs to give a thought is the need for an Engine Kill switch which is absent in this bike. Looking at the Indian traffic scene, this seems like a must have.

Overall, the Honda CB Hornet 160R is a bike that would enthrall the youth, but the higher pricing might make them think twice before taking the plunge!
